Swap in Mexico

We know it without actually hearing it: some older people think what we are doing at Jupyeah is tiny. They may be right but by swapping many great deeds could be achieved – if we have the heart and wit for it. Mexico City, faced with the closing of its major landfill and the terrible amount of trash the city produces every year, the government initiated a “trash for food” barter, where citizens trade glass, psper, cardboard, aluminum cans and PET bottles for green points redeemable at the farmers market selling local produces in and around the city. A perfect solution to reduce trash and promote local food, ie. A sustainable food chain. So our August swap may not be as great but at least it’s a stepping stone to gather our power to make a difference 🙂
